First Post - Laurie Anderson

Hi all and welcome to my blog.  l will be using this blog as a vehicle to record my journey through the digital arts.

Laurie Anderson (born 1947) is an American performance artist/musician that sings and plays violin and keyboards. She is a trained sculptor and ventured in to music in the 1960s.

She uses a very limited amount of props for the films but it is very effective as it does make you concentrate more on the artists voice and the links with the art she is seeking to give.

She uses a vocal synthesiser (vocoder) to alter her voice.

This is a voice synthesiser similar to the one used by Laurie Anderson.

A saxophone can be heard as well as birds tweeting strategically placed over the video at places.

It is an experimental music piece that is half spoken and half sung.   It went to number 2 in the charts in 1981.
